The Mix has been with us from the beginning. Located just around the corner from Opera Alley on the corner of 7th & St. Helens, The Mix is an important part of the neighborhood. This year they will once again be running the Beer Garden. The Downtown Tacoma Block Party is so grateful to have their ongoing support. So come on down, check out the party, then wind down in The Mix’s beer garden!
This Wednesday, join with other Downtown Tacoma Block Party volunteers to create a great interactive art project for the party! No special artistic skills or carpentry tools are required, just a spirit of fun and a desire to work with your neighbors on a fun project!
We will be “building” on the work from last party where we created two, two-story box structures complete with shingles and a balcony. Come help us finish the city!

We are so excited to have Indochine sponsoring the Downtown Tacoma Block Party once again! Indochine has been serving up delicious Thai Food with a plush and exotic atmosphere in Downtown Tacoma since 2003. Their creative and delicious dishes are a feast for the senses.
Indochine will once again be offering a special deal for our block party peeps. The coupon will be located on the back of the door hanger invitations that will be distributed to Downtown residents. Those should be dropping in a couple weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for this and many other great deals from our sponsors! Every year we work with local artists/designers Slide Sideways to come up with really unique poster ideas. This year Slide Sideways wanted to print the posters themselves. They made this movie of the process!

Expand is expanding by adding a whole second floor of activity. They have exponentially grown in size (their classes are packed!) since they sponsored the Downtown Block Party last year. Then they were the new kids Downtown but now they are becoming one of Downtown’s success stories. Look for them to show up at the block party with something fun on August 18th! (maybe hula hoops again like last year?)
Meanwhile, check out their awesome (and abundant!) class schedule for hot yoga! Drop in classes start at $10 of you can do various plans that drop the per-class price. There’s even an unlimited plan and student, military, teacher, and senior discounts.

You see ,we have these characters we’ve made this year to rep the block party and we’re going to cut out 11 x 17 versions of each of them, break into teams, and put out 200 of the little guys in random places all over Tacoma.
The event will start at 6pm tonight and go until 9pm. The team with the most out-of-the-box character placement and the team with with the most prominent placement will win a nice little prize. Bring your camera phones – you’ll be uploading your best pics as you go to FB!

This year we’ve gotten a bit ambitious with the Downtown Block Party. We’re expanding the amount of activities at the party by almost double from last year. So we’ve still got some room for creative brains to join in the fun!
Do you want to facilitate some sort of fun, creative activity for party-goers to engage? From crafting and schoolyard games to the most bizarre (but family-appropriate) activity your brain can come up with – we want you involved! Even if you’re nervous thinking of something, we can help brainstorm with you!

You see ,we have these characters we’ve made this year to rep the block party and we’re going to cut out 11 x 17 versions of each of them, break into teams, and put out 200 of the little guys in random places all over Tacoma.
The event will start at 6pm and go until 9pm. The team with the most out-of-the-box character placement and the team with with the most prominent placement will win a nice little prize. Bring your camera phones – you’ll be uploading your best pics as you go to FB!
